Mike greeting the sunrise at Kings Canyon; not that you can see from this picture
but our camper is facing directly opposite the Canyon walls.
It was lovely to wake up to the sun rising and to finish the day with the sun setting over the
Canyon.
I really enjoyed this campground; very tranquil.
Also it was the place where we bonded with the other Jayco travellers kids and adults alike.
Mike and kids at The Garden of Eden in the valley floor of Kings Canyon.
It was a beautiful place to stop and have lunch; so we did.
Another pituresque shot of the canyon; I believe that this photo was taken
by Claire. Once again it was a long walk and the kids did amazingly well.
Our first night at Kings Canyon Resort we thought we would take in a show.
Here Claire had the courage helped along by her new freinds to get up on
stage and perform for the audience [well done Claire].
And we all know that her Dad loves any opportunity to make us laugh.
Jarrod and Claire in another part of Kings Canyon.
We have now moved on to The West Macdonnell ranges; The Ghost Gum walk at Ormiston Gorge.
A very comfortable half hour walk to another lovely lookout.
A lookout near Glen Helen Gorge [also part of The West Macdonnell Ranges]
that Terry and Kellie showed us.
Terry and Kellie met us for dinner on Thursday night. Actually they
brought out a beautiful meal to share with us. It was so welcome as we were
very low on supplies [Thanks Guys!].
We stayed at Glen Helen Resort; note to self Resort in Northern Territory
can mean park your camper in a car park and shower in a tiny cubicle with 50 other people.
Anyway moving on to a more positive note; we finally used some of our wood that we
purchased at Yorke's. We had begun to look at it as our pet bag of wood
[It's allright Molly no-one can replace you].
Mike and Terry built a fire, the adults had happy hour and the kids called there
friends over to toast some marshmallows.
I have to say I had been waiting to sit by a camp fire and gaze up at the stars; well this
was the perfect night.
Besides the term Resort meaning something altogether different; the only other
unpleasant experience at Glen Helen were the mice. We had mice everywhere;
cute little creatures as long as they keep out of your bed and your food.
Being in the camper off the ground gave us a bit of an advantage. This will sound
a little gross but the kids had a ball trying to catch them.
Now we are exploring in and around Alice Springs; will blog more soon.
Lots of love, Leah.
