update 20/1/11

Just a quick note on the big adventure. Well where do I start ?? We went away at Xmas (to Forster)to get a feel of the 'Taj Mahal', thats what we're calling the van. After many other names being thrown around including 'the Swan' as its a Jayco pop top Swan, 'The Shack' and 'Greg'!!, the 'Taj Mahal'seemed to be appropriate after trying to set the annex up !@#*^, which I might add, is now removed and replaced with a wind out awning. Now back to the trip planning. The kids finish their first term on Friday 15 April 2011 at 3.20pm and we will be on the road from 3.21pm, Nah!!!! only joking!!! but we will more than likely be on the road the next day, Saturday the 16th April. We need to return by the 24th July!!!!! Exactly 100 nights, Wahoo!!!!! or 102 midday naps !!!!!. Anyway I'm getting lost and consumed by MY agenda!!!
So far we have decided that we will be going straight to Adelaide from Canberra, taking a break along the way for a night. Once in Adelaide we'll visit some friends for a few nights and check out Adelaide and its surrounds. Then we'll be heading up through the middle to Darwin visiting everywhere in between. Places on the hit list are Cooper Pedy, Ayers Rock, Olga's, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek!, Mataranka, Kathrine and then Darwin. We intend to spend quite a while in and around the area between Mataranka to Darwin seeing Kakadu and Litchfield parks and every falls, springs and billabongs we can see or/and swim in (dodging crocs of coarse),"and rivers we can fish in", whoops my agenda just slipped in again. After we've finished playing up the top end we will ALL have a big decision to make?? Do we turn left or right!!!! taking into consideration time, patience and the kids willingness to sit still for very, very long drives. At this stage we are ALL very keen to do the WA coast line from Broom to Perth but we'll have to wait and see.
Please note: As you have probably seen and read from above Leah will be teaching spelling and comprehension to the kids on this trip and I will be teaching sport and recreation skills as well as maths!!
Which reminds me I better pack a calculator!!!!.
